This Garden was in a terrible mess before we started it's a very long and narrow front garden and it was full of monster size shrubs which hadn't been pruned for many years.

Also the land sloped from left to right by approx 3 feet. There was no drainage for the water at the main roof and we also had to dig out 3 feet of soil on one side to get the garden level which made the drainage situation even worse.

To fix the drainage problem we performed the following alterations. From the down coming pipe we dug a trench 18''deep sloping away from the house down the garden eventually ending up at the bottom and at 2'6''deep There are off shots in herringbone pattern to distribute the water evenly around the garden.
The trench was filled with 10mm pea gravel and perforated field drain pipe and this solved the problem. All of this way down below hardcore level which meant that the moisture wouldn't attract moss to the flagstones and gave the lawn adequate drainage .

The design of this one was to make the garden seem wider and take away the long narrow effect it once had. This was achieved by creating focal points up a screen for privacy as this garden was right on a main road where buses frequently passed.

Now my client can use the garden as it should be used, an extra room to the home.
