The Design on this garden was carried out over 20 years ago by another landscaper.
Although the garden isn't in this shot it was designed to look like a ship as the previous owners of the property were involved heavily in the North East ship building industry.
My clients wanted to create a patio area which would blend in with the existing surroundings and complement the already matured garden.

The main structure of the property was of 73mm engineers with sandstone lintels and window surrounds. The steps leading from the back door to the patio area were also sandstone construction so we needed to take this into consideration when we chose colour and texture of the paving stones. The majority of pre cast flagstone's of which have been cast to look like natural sandstone looked too new against the ageing sandstone so we opted for swaledale weathered yorkstone by Oakdale. The rotunda being the focal point surrounded by random sized flags.

The area was too big to use the same material everywhere so we compensated by using 60mm Lakeland country stone at the sides. The curved edging is Marshall's tequila kerb setting and was laid next to the existing buxus hedge and herbaceous border. My clients were very motivated when it came to the garden and already had a very good idea as to what they wanted to do, however even after seeing our displays at Thompson's they still need ideas to rubber stamped by myself. This wasn't just designed by me nor my clients, it was shared input from both parties which is just the way I like to work. I've found over the years that the finest form of advertising is by word of mouth and in this case I am currently working for relatives of these clients, totally different design of course but I will be updating the web site soon the finale shots of the job.
